This Web - Site is created after my visit in the homecity of my wife, I want to say thank you to her here too, for the beautiful days that we have spent in Ekaterinburg. Thanks to her I have seen a very beautiful city and I have met the wonderful friends!!!! " Spasibo bolshoe, moja dorogaja!!! "
The history of Ekaterinburg origin is closely connected with the epoch of the first Russian Emperor Peter the Great`s governing and his reforms directed on re-organization of Russia. Fledglings of Peter`s nest Vasily Nikitich Tatishchev (1686-1750) and George Wilhelm de Gennin (1676-1750) share the glory of founders. The official date of Ekaterinburg foundation is November 18, 1723.
The state metallurgical and metalworking plant named in honour of Peter the Great`s wife, Empress Catherine I , and the patroness of mountain crafts Sacred Catherine was started up on the banks of the Iset River that day. Having born as the industrial centre of the Urals and Siberia Ekaterinburg also became the centre of a scientific, educational, and cultural idea of Russia for three centuries of the history.
The unique location of Ekaterinburg on the border of Europe and Asia has determined its value as a large transport-and-logistical junction. Growing passenger and cargo streams are served by the largest in Europe railway junction and international airport Kol`tsovo; through the city passes a network of the most important highways of the country.
Ekaterinburg is the city, which was intended to be one of the Russian state`s pillars from the moment of foundation, the city, which concentrated unprecedented defensive, industrial, scientific, technological potential in Soviet time. Today this city promtly changes the shape. It gets elements of a world city more and more owing to concentration of diplomatic missions, offices of transactional corporations, and representations of foreign films, international cultural organizations, information networks, and transport communications. Therefore interest shown to the capital of Ural by businessmen and industrialists, art workers and sciences, tourists and travellers grows steadily. Modern Ekaterinburg is open Ekaterinburg. It the city for people. It is written down so in the Strategic Plan for Development of Ekaterinburg. This city has wonderful past and not less a wonderful future!!!!
